The first CD I put on my ILP Flat-Coat, back in 1976, sealed my fate in performance events forever more! Each of my dogs since that point (GSD, Afghan, 5 Corgis) have had a CD and all but 2, at least a TD. While my conformation experience is limited to my CH Afghan Hound, I've found performance events to be more rewarding.
I currently own 2 PWCs - Breeze, age 10 with titles in obedience, rally, agility, UKC, herding, CGC & Therapy and of course, tracking. My PWC puppy, Flicka, just turned 1 and is in training for tracking, agility, and obedience and currently has her CGC.
Tracking has been a part of my life since training my GSD in Schutzhund back in the 70's. My first AKC tracking title came in 1980 with my first PWC. Since then, I've completed 1 CT, several TDs on my dogs and friends' dogs and am working on my second CT with Breeze who has her TD and TDX. I especially enjoy tracking because it is wonderful to be outside with my canine partner observing them doing what comes so naturally.
I've been teaching tracking classes in the Denver area for more than 10 years, learning mainly from my friend and breeder, Carole-Joy Evert, and of course many others. I am an AKC CGC evaluator and teach obedience classes at Blue Springs 'N Katydid Dog Training Center.
