Ron's first Newfoundland became a part of our family on Labor Day, 1989. "Ally" earned a CD, CDX, TD, and CGC, and was the first Newfoundland in Colorado to earn a TD. She also earned all the Working Dog titles offered by the Newfoundland Club of America, including Water Dog, Water Rescue Dog, Draft Dog, and Team Draft Dog. Lucy, Ron's second Newfoundland, became a member of the family in October 1999. She is both an American and Canadian Champion. She has also completed the Tracking Dog and Water Dog titles. She is currently working on her Companion Dog and Tracking Dog Excellent titles. As a result of living with these wonderful Newfoundlands, Ron participates in a variety of dog-related activities, such as serving on the board of the High Country Newfoundland Club, judging the Water Test for the Newfoundland Club of America, and judging the Draft Test and Obedience. He also teaches seminars on Newfoundland Water and Draft activities, serves as a track-layer for AKC Tracking Tests, and is a Tester/Observer for Therapy Dogs Incorporated. He also regularly has his articles and short stories published in various dog journals and publications. |
